The recent AHR Expo brought more than 50,000 HVAC/R professionals to sunny Orlando, Florida for the largest industry event of year. The Pate Company had our team on hand to welcome visitors to our booth and show off a wide range of our roof penetration and equipment support products.
We had great conversations with many of our manufacturer’s representatives from across the country, who we rely on to provide us with valuable feedback from their customers in the field. Of course, we also met with numerous mechanical contractors, some who regularly install our roof curbs, adapters, equipment supports and other products, and some who were new to The Pate Company.
It was great to be able to speak to so many reps, contractors, engineers and other HVAC pros about the many advantages of Pate products, as well as about our range of services, such as product training, load modeling and other engineering services.
In looking back at the three days of the show, these were some of the most popular topics of conversation in the Pate booth…
Pipe Cap Packages
Our pipe cap packages that were on display garnered a lot of attention at the show. Designed to fit our 12”, 15″ or 15-1/2″ square roof curbs, Pate cap packages offer an effective and flexible way to permanently seal pipes that penetrate the roof, in all weather conditions.
Our durable caps are molded from acrylic clad ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene), providing UV protection with an effective temperature range of -40 to +160 degrees F. The boots are molded from KZ-10 black plastisol (PVC), with an even broader continuous temperature range of -40 to +200 degrees F.
These all-in-one units come complete with everything needed for installation, including the cover/cap and enough boots to seal up to 10 pipes each, from 1/2” to 10″ O.D. The watertight boots are graduated to fit multiple standard pipe sizes. The contractor simply cuts off each boot for the diameter needed, and quickly seals the pipe with the provided adjustable stainless-steel clamps.
Roof Curbs
Needless to say, our traditional roof curbs – one of the main product lines we have become known for – were also a popular topic at the show. We had samples on display, which allowed us to point out key features of Pate curbs, such as our heavy-gauge galvanizes steel or aluminum construction, continuously welded and mitered corners, 1-1/2” thick fiberglass insulation, and more.

Pate roof curbs can accommodate fans, HVAC piping, plumbing penetrations, ducts, skylights, roof hatches and other equipment. We also offer many standard curb sizes as in-stock items, which brings us to our next topic.
In-Stock Products
Many visitors to the Pate booth were surprised to hear about the large number of standard products that we keep in stock and available for immediate shipment – within just 1 to 3 days on orders up to 10 pieces (and we guarantee it!). Our in-stock items include roof curbs, pipe penetration products and equipment supports.
The commercial mechanical contractors who already take advantage of our “quick ship” service told us how valuable it is to their business when they are installing new equipment. Fast project completion is always important on new roof installs, and being able to get the Pate products they need, when they need them, goes a long way in keeping their building owner and facilities manager customers happy – and helps earns them repeat business.
New Vibration and Sound Reduction Products are on the Way
The AHR Expo gave us the opportunity to discuss some new products we have in development with a wide range of HVAC professionals, both current and potential customers. And the feedback was exactly what we had hoped for!
Based on many positive reviews, we now plan to roll out several exciting new products in the coming weeks, including roof curbs that feature vibration isolation and/or sound attenuation. More news will be coming soon, so be sure to subscribe to our newsletter to get the latest information on these new Pate products when they become available. We plan to introduce the first of these new items in late March or early April.
